Poster Instructions

Step 1: Plan your e-poster

  • Review previous poster topics for ideas and inspiration.
  • Review the poster formatting guidelines below.
  • Talk with colleagues who may be interested in joining you as a presenter. We encourage you to present as a team so that each member has an opportunity to visit other poster presentations.
  • Decide on the name of your poster.
  • Designate a member of your team to register your poster.

Step 2: Register your e-poster

Register your poster by October 4. If you are presenting the poster with colleagues, only one member of the team will register. (Poster registration has closed.)

Step 3: Review technical webinar (optional)

For more information on e-poster templates, design and presentation tips, and formatting and submission guidelines, view a recording of a webinar hosted by ePosterBoards in September.

Step 4: Create your e-poster

The goal of your presentation should be readability. You can display your content across multiple slides (three to five slides recommended). Avoid too much content per page, and include imagery for visual interest.

You will have the option to use your own device (e.g., laptop, tablet) or an ePosterBoards tablet to display your presentation.  You will be asked to indicate which you will use on the registration form.

If you have selected to use an ePosterBoards tablet, your presentation can be a PowerPoint, PDF, or website.

If you are showing high-resolution video, demonstrating an app, or using other presentation software, plan to use your own device.

Formatting guidelines

To create your e-poster in PowerPoint, choose from the templates linked below. The templates provide a framework for you to update as needed. Feel free to customize the headings, photos, layout, and order of slides to suit your poster topic. Please keep the slide dimensions and suggested font sizes consistent.

Prefer to design your own? Just be sure to follow the guidelines below:

  • Font: Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman. Size: larger than 28 points.
  • Slide dimensions: 40.97 inches by 23.04 inches (1920 x 1080 pixels / 16:9 ratio)
  • Landscape orientation
  • Select “Setup Show” under the “Slide Show” heading. Then select “Loop continuously until Esc.”
  • Embedded videos can be displayed in the following formats: .mov, .mp4, .m4v, and mpeg. Save your presentation as .pptx to ensure all your embedded images and video are included. Plan to upload your video file along with your presentation.

Contact ePosterBoard Support with any questions. You can also reach out directly to Edwardo Chacon Barahona or Virginia Saurer.

Step 5: Upload your e-poster to ePosterBoards

Upload your presentation to the ePosterBoards website by October 21.

If you will use your own device (e.g., laptop, tablet) at the poster session, you do not need to upload your poster.

Need to make a change to your submitted presentation? Review how to request to edit your presentation and submit an updated file.

Step 6: Set up your poster on event day

Check in at the ePosterBoards help desk at Walker Memorial anytime between 12:15 and 1:45 pm on October 30. You will be able to make last-minute changes to your ePoster and test your presentation.

ePosterBoards tablet presenters: On the day of the event, bring a backup copy of your presentation (and any linked videos or Excel files) on a flash drive. Have a backup copy in your email or cloud storage as well in case of any flash drive issues.

External device presenters: Please plan to use your own device and power charger to connect to an ePosterBoards monitor. ePosterBoards will provide the adaptor cable that you requested on your registration form. If you need to change your device, please make sure to reach out to ePosterBoards by October 14.
